First Day Of School
Getting Ready for My First Day of School
I dreamed I was getting ready for the first day of school. It was early morning and I was getting dressed. I wanted to wear an all white outfit and found every piece, but as soon as I put on a piece, it turned red with black horizontal stripes. I gave up and went downstairs thinking I had a ride with a family member but found out they had left, so I had to take the bus. I was about to be late, so I ran for the bus. I saw someone running in front of me who got to the bus first. I get on the bus and we are almost at school when I realize I forgot my cell phone.
Somehow, time reversed and once again I am at home, coming down the stairs, looking for a ride to school. This time I grab my cell phone before running for the bus. I see the other person running for the bus again, but this time the bus driver does not wait for me and drives away. A second later the bus crashes and two things cross my mind, that the bus driver was upset that my ride didn't pick me up this morning, and that the person running in front of me had died.
Pressure, then panic.
Main Life Issues:
Someone is trying to get somewhere but does not pull themselves together in time and lack proper communication tools.
First day of school: A beginning; something to be learned.
Getting dressed: Clothes as attitudes and how one presents oneself to the world; white clothes represent a fresh start; clothes turning red etc, show being unable to get a fresh start.
Missing ride to school: Getting a ride to school is the easy way, represents having help; missing ride shows need to move forward in life on one’s own, a need to be independent.
Running for bus: A need to push oneself, not get behind, hustle.
Forgetting cell phone: Phone as communication, hence, not communicating well, which may hinder getting employment.
Bus crashes: Bus as a vehicle to get where one wants to go, hence, the goal; crashing shows inability to get to where one wants to be.
What the dream Means:
School is a metaphor for the school of life; missing the bus tells you that you are not on track yet, to begin life as you’d like to. You lack communication tools and may need to speak to relevant people about career choices, options and how to achieve them. The bus crashing suggests that your current goals are not working for you. Death is a symbol for change; the other person dying suggests a need for change in you and the paths you are choosing.
Bottom Line: To find employment and life direction, communicate with relevant people such as career counselors or trusted adults. The school bus may also hint at a need for further studies or training. At age twenty, you have the time to get it right, one step at a time.
