Making a Deal with a Handsome Devil
A Deal with a Very Attractive Devil
I had an extremely vivid dream a few nights ago and the feelings stayed with me for hours. I dreamed of a very attractive man who I instinctively knew was the devil. I don't know why but I was bargaining with him about something and he said, "You're going to have to do better than that". The bargain had something to do with two little boys, one of whom closely resembled my son. As the bargaining continued I began to touch this man inapproriately and could feel every detail as if I was actually touching a man. His reaction was that he desired me very much and I in turn was very affected by that and said, "You can have three hours of my time to do anything you want." Agreeing, he answered, “yes,” and I woke up.
Extremely attracted, but afraid, too.
Main Life Issues:
Tired, stressed about job and living up to everyone's standards and expectations.
Someone is tempted by something very appealing and gives in.
Devil: Someone who tempts another to deviate from their standards.
Handsome man: Someone who stirs emotions and desires.
Negotiating: An interaction characterized by give and take elements.
Have to do better: Feeling one is not good enough, a perfectionist streak; metaphor to rise to the occasion; dreamer seeks self-improvement .
Looks Like my son: as a male child, the son in this case is a symbol of the woman dreamer’s need to take initiatve and assert herself to be more herself; assertion is a male trait a woman needs for balance.
Do anything you want: Giving self permission to let loose.
What the dream Means:
The dream is a comment about extremes. The perfectionist in you tries to live up to others’ standards but being perfect is hard work and stressful; another part of you wants to let go and be devilish and out of control. The thought of letting loose can be scary yet also brings happiness as you imagine being free from the “good girl” image.
The dream is a message to find the middle ground between the extreme of trying to be perfect and wanting to free yourself from being at others’ beck and call.
Bottom Line: You are looking for a way to be yourself and find balance. The dream says: “Don’t be such a goody-goody” and at the same time tells you, “There’s no need to go to the other extreme and become devlish, either”. Build in play time spurts of “being bad”.
Thank you. Your interpretations really speak to me in a way I didn't realize! I am grateful for your insight.
