Three Dreams About a Grim Reaper
Grim Reaper Tags Me
Chased and Tagged by the Grim Reaper
The dream began with me sleeping on the floor of my bedroom. I heard the front door open and close and a weird noise started. I said "Dad?" In the dream that was a nickname for my husband. Then something grabbed me by the feet and pulled. I woke up yelling for my husband.
I went back to sleep and the nightmare started again. Now people were being brutally killed by something we couldn't see. We were constantly running from it. At one point everyone was seated in a circle and the grim reaper came to choose who would die. I was calm with my eyes closed and felt at peace with dying, as it meant the nightmare would stop. He tapped me on the head but I didn't die, which saved a girl from dying and infuriated the grim reaper.
An odd thing was that my deceased father was there. I got to hug him and felt his skin, it seemed as though he was there to help me.
Extremely fearful, happy to see my Dad, peaceful.
Main Life Issues:
Currently dealing OCD and borderline personality disorder, financial stress
Someone who feels vulnerable still shows heroic behavior and accepts what happens.
Death: often relates to big changes in life;
Murder: changes that feel threatening and negative.
What it Means:
Being chased generally mirrors feeling vulnerable; you may feel vulnerable about the great changes and challenges (per grim reaper tagging you). Yet there are characters in the dream trying to help who are symbols for parts of you and suggest that you have the strength to get through your circumstances, and that you have support around you. The part about your father was probably an actual visit from him to let you know that he cares, and a reminder of the qualities you used earlier in your life that you can draw on.
Bottom Line: Accepting your circumstances rather than fighting them may be a clue to helping yourself.
I feel like you touched on everything that I'm going through right now. Thank you so much for taking the time to interpret this for me. I really appreciate it.
Skeleton and Grim Reaper
I See a Skeleton and the Grim Reaper
In the dream I open a door and there is a skeleton dressed like the Grim Reaper. I felt as if someone had jumped out from behind a dark corner and said "boo!" My heart jumped and I thought "Oh, my God!" I was so surprised it woke me up.
Shocked, surprised, scared.
Main Life Issues:
Bad health, unable to work due to health.
Someone is confronted by a scene of death and scared by it.
Opening a door: Seeing what is beyond; looking for a way out; seeking opportunity.
Skeleton: A person who once lived; a reminder of death; something scary.
Grim Reaper: Symbol of death; metaphor for approaching death;
Death: The ultimate change; a necessary change.
Skeleton dressed like Grim Reaper: Metaphor of life intertwined with death; reminder that all that lives must die.
As if said “boo”: A shock; facing what is shocking; feeling scared.
The thought, “Oh my God”: A sudden revelation; becoming aware of something important.
What it Means:
The dream can have one of two meanings. Since you actually have health problems, the dream may be a metaphor for “not living” life as a way to confront yourself and say: “Choose to live or choose to die”. It can be an urgent message to find solutions to restore your health. Sometimes it takes a shock to swing into full action.
On the other hand, it’s said that we pre-dream everything of importance that happens to us and the dream may have come to prepare you for the worse. Unless you find steps to turn your health around, you may, in fact, face death.
Bottom Line: Dreams communicate messages you are ready for. Some see death as a terrible option; however, books on “Life After Death” and “Near Death Experiences” hint there is great love and happiness in the next level of life if one has lived their best.
Thank you for your insight. I have been seeing doctors without much success which is frustrating because at age thirty-nine, I enjoy activities I can no longer do. I am a Christian and believe dreams have meaning and am okay with passing on. The dream tells me there is an end to the suffering, one way or another. I know God does not give me more than I can handle.
The Grim Reaper Knocks - A Nightmare
Grim Reaper Knocks at My Door
I was sitting in my room staring out the window. It was dark and gray outside, like right just before it rains. I heard a knock on the door so I ran downstairs and noticed no one was home. I got scared because usually there is someone at home but went to the door anyway. I had a bad feeling, like you do when watching a scary movie and you know something is about to pop out. I opened the door; there was a guy I've never seen before. He didn’t look like the grim reaper but I felt it was him. He said "It's time to go". I felt tears coming out and woke up. I've often had dreams about dying but this one really freaked me out .
Main Life Issues:
Family issues, grades (age fifteen).
Someone reconnects with a loved one and feels uplifted.
Staring out the window: Looking at what is out there; as a fifteen-year-old, wondering about your future.
The grim reaper: An image of death, which is generally a symbol for change, great change.
Dark and gray outside the window: An image of a coming storm; a grim scene; a metaphor of fear.
Knock on the door: Something that needs attention.
Words, “it’s time to go now”: A heads up to leave the past behind.
Tears: Fear, a fear of the unknown.
What the dream Means:
Death, portrayed as the grim reaper, is generally about change, a lot of change. At fifteen, you are likely going through a lot of change and sometimes those changes can be difficult, challenging and scary. The dream is an invitation to face those changes and take on responsibility, hinting at a need to grow up. If issues are painful, find help through school counselors or trusted adults.
Bottom Line: Know that as you grow older, by doing your best, you will grow in strength and confidence and it will feel better.
