DREAMS OF ADDICTION. Example Dreams of Addiction and Being Under the Influence and What They Mean
A Former Addict Dreams of Using Drugs Again
In my dream I was with a friend and had already stooped using drugs. I saw myself telling my ex boyfriend who had also stopped using to get me a fix and asked him if he wanted one. He said “No”. I saw myself with the spoon burning it and picked it up to find the whole needle full of heroin. I began to fix myself and saw myself high. I woke up terrified.
What the Dream Means:
When people unplug from a substance that has a strong hold such as drugs, alcohol, or smoking etc., they can have an "As If I’m Still Doing It" dream. This can be part of the adjustment, helping to safely compensate while asleep for the fact that there may be a lingering urge. The fact that the dream scared you says you are being vigilant and don’t want it to happen. HOLD THAT THOUGHT. A re-enactment dream is a memory replay. It does not mean you will go back to it. In the dream, the boyfriend said "NO". The boyfriend is part of you, all characters in a dream generally are a symbol of a part of us. He is the symbol of the stronger part of you that now draws the line and says “No”. The dream came to remind you that taking drugs is scary, a leftover of an old urge in the process of letting go.
