The Attacking Dog
A Dog Keeps Attacking Me
I dreamed I was going for a run in a forest near my house and a dog jumps out and attacks me. I do not fight and simply let it attack. This is a recurring dream.
Main Life Issues:
Attacked by dog as a child.
It’s a story about someone who feels alone and does not defend themselves.
Dog: Because you were attacked by a dog in childhood, the dog represents something that frightens you and feels threatening as some issue in your life.
Going for a run: Taking care of self, staying healthy and strong; can be a metaphor for dailly routine, if it is the dreamer's regular routine to run.
Forest: A place with unknowns; or, a get-a-way, a refuge.
Dog jumps out and attacks: A confrontation with something scary.
I do not fight: A passive stance, not defending oneself.
I let the dog attack: Choosing not to stand up for oneself.
What the dream Means:
Dreams often mirror how you experience life. In this case, the dream suggests that at times, life feels scary and threatening, even though you are trying to look after yourself. The dream suggests that you may be too passive and unwilling or unable to assert yourself, which may suggest a lack of confidence.
Bottom Line: Find role models and counselors who can help you learn to assert yourself constructively, stand your ground, and improve your self-confidence.
