Insanity and Addiction
I am told I am insane and see a video about addiction
I was living with three friends in an attic; everyone got kicked out but me. Once they left, the house became a mental hospital and I was a patient. As I am being walked down a hall, I see a body lying at the end and ask to go to the bathroom. I go into the bathroom, there is blood everywhere. I tell the doctor, he casually brings the body out; no one cares. I just stand there, in the bloody bathroom. The school cop shows up and asks if he can bring me to a fast food place for a hamburger, but there was something off about him.
The next day I go to class in the hospital. The class has a video about cocaine and is trying to convince "the monster" in us to do it. I start craving cocaine with everything in me, as nurses hold up needles in my face saying, “Smell it”, over and over. I wake up.
I felt worried in the dream, concerned. I woke up, felt in shock.
Main Life Issues:
Low confidence, anger, divorced parents (never really affected me); fiancée in the Marines.
Someone is left on their own, is watched and labeled as not normal.
Someone encounters a suspicious death/change no one cares about.
Someone offers help but looks suspicious.
Someone tries to lure another into scary, addictive behavior.
Attic: Something up above; one’s head or thoughts, or “higher self” or soul that one reaches out to for inner guidance.
House becomes mental hospital: Place that should feel safe becomes an unsafe location where one does not fit in.
Mental hospital: Place where head, thoughts, get fixed.
Death, dead body: Generally a symbol of change, great change
Blood everywhere: Symbol of great loss, pain and injury.
Dead body in hallway: Drastic scene, drastic leftover of something bad that happened.
School cop offers help: Someone lawful in the system who offers help, nourishment.
Doctor does not care: Someone who should heal does not help; someone who should be supportive but is not.
Fast Food Restaurant: A ready made place that offers nourishment outside of the home; place of nourishment with easy access; in this dream, likely refers to school counselor / counseling.
Cocaine: Something bad, addictive; what can destroy.
What it Means:
A dream can be a mirror of how life feels. This one suggests you: Sometimes you feel alone.
Important issues touch you deeply that you’d like to talk about, but those around you act as if nothing happened. Someone reaches out to help you (e.g. school counselor), but it doesn’t feel right to you.
You may feel enticed into behaviors that could get you into trouble, like drinking or drugs, which could be addictive. Also, certain attitudes and reactions like anger or pushing people away can turn into habits which become like addictions in personality.
The dream is likely raising a red flag about trying to act so tough that you never deal with those feelings. For example, “pushing away” and “not feeling anything” can become ingrained, and affect your personality and your ability to love.
Bottom Line: The dream invites you to accept and face the pain you are experiencing in your life. At age eighteen life can be tough, but if you deal with it head on it gets better. The fact that you had this dream tells me you are brave, honest and want to get it right. You can do it. The dream came to get your attention about the pain, anger and hurt inside of you, so that you can deal with it. Get help from a counselor. Fix the pain and hurt instead of trying to escape from those feelings and life will feel sunny again.
