Attacked in My Own Home
Boogeyman Chases Me and Tries to Hurt Me
I had three versions of this dream. First Version: I was in the garage with attic door down and heard someone in the attic. I hurriedly close the door and run inside, waiting to see if he would try to get out of the attic. He did, and I ran out the front door. 2nd version: After running inside from the garage he caught me after I tripped and fell. He had a knife and was trying to stab me but I was fighting for my life. 3rd version: My kids are in the house. I run inside and get my kids and we run out the front door and get into the car. He comes out before I can get the car started and is trying to get into the car. I back up but he is still right there at my window.
Woke up scared and my heart was pounding.
Main Life Issues:
Ex boyfriend recently went to jail for violating a protective order that I took out on him after he attacked me in my home.
It’s a story of continually being attacked and in serious danger.
Being chased: Vulnerable.
Boyfriend with knife: An attack; a serious threat.
What it Means:
Though dreams can reflect anxieties, having such dreams under the circumstances you describe (a protective order out on ex bf), I would take these dreams as a serious warning. Despite legal restrictions on him, you should take precautions to protect yourself. The most violent attacks in domestic violence happen after the man leaves, and your dreams may be warning you that such attacks are far from over. You need to seriously protect yourself once he is out of jail and not rely on him to honor the legal injunction to keep away. Consider yourself in danger (e.g. get an attack dog, have someone strong at home, relocate, etc).
Bottom Line: It may be wise to take this dream seriously and make sure you are safe. Such a dream message may not be good news, yet a warning from your own soul may be the best news of all.
