JUSTICE PLAYS ROULETTE

Available in paperback, hard cover & Kindle on Amazon & elsewhere. The True Story of Homicide Detective Glenn Ford as lead Detectiveon the Case of the Norfolk Four
JUSTIC PLAYS ROULETTE IS THE TRUE STORY of Homicide Detective Glenn Ford as lead detective on the City of Norfolk's most infamous murder in a generation, known as The Case of the Norfolk Four whose legal knots spanned twenty years. When Ford retired after a thirty-year career in law enforcement as one of the most renowned homicide detectives of his time, he enjoyed his work as a highly in-demand private investigator. Ford was shocked when the FBI charged him with extortion—a crime abhorrent to him and others as the worst crime a police officer can be accused of. Within months Ford was convicted and lost everything, including his freedom. Yet to this day, Ford maintains his innocence.
In Justice Plays Roulette, a young local journalist decides to investigate Ford’s life and career. Surprised at what he uncovers, the reporter describes the gripping twists and turns which no one saw coming—not even Ford. Several factors created the perfect storm which unravelled Ford’s fate. A key thread was the city’s most famous homicide, the Case of the Norfolk which involved the rape and murder of a beautiful 19-year-old wife of a Navy man while her husband was at sea; Ford was the lead detective. Who would want to throw a high profile detective under the bus? And why? How does a well known detective survive in a nasty federal prison? Did Ford's family stand by the detective in his darkest hours? Justice Plays Roulette tells all.
A MAIN PERSON IN THE BOOK REVIEWS JPR. One of the half-dozen main characters portrayed in the book who wishes to remain anonymous says: “Finished the book yesterday. Part of me wishes I had never read JUSTICE PLAYS ROULETTE; it brings back painful memories of the day when I woke up to the reality of the “bastardized justice system.” The other part of me was glad to be reminded that the justice system is made up of individuals, some great, others not so much. On the not so great side are self-serving attorneys, power seeking prosecutors, unethical law enforcement officers, and some bad apples in the FBI. But there are also many who are loyal to the ideals of the justice system. Too bad they often seem not to be supported. In any case, A RIP-ROARING GOOD READ.”
JUSTICE PLAYS ROUTLETTTE describes the true story of Homicide Detective Glenn Ford as lead detective on the Case of the Norfolk Four as he experienced it. The account does not contest anyone’s guilt or innocence; the courts and criminal justice system have had the final say, which Ford accepts. The story simply shares Ford’s journey as a renowned homicide detective who became reviled in the media and by the public and what it took to reclaim his life—and his devastated spirit. Many who are described in the story have moved on with their lives, as has Detective Ford.
FORD —THE MAN BEHIND THE STORY. During Ford's trial and since, the media portrayed Ford using a single grim photo taken as he climbed the steps of the Federal Courthouse to be arraigned on devastating charges. It showed a stone-faced man who was in shock at what was happening. As Ford wrote in his personal statement to the judge prior to his sentencing, "The man portrayed in the media is not me, it is not who I am." Photos show the family man and friend which the public never got to see.
