Dreams about the Apocalypse
and The End of The World
THE END OF THE WORLD. My girlfriend and I are hanging out at a local park where the dream takes place. We find out the end of the world is coming and my thought was, “Yeah, then everyone will wake up.” People are rushing around trying to figure out what to do. We watch the news which tells everyone the world will happen in three stages and mentions a place everyone can go to be safe. We had no transportation and lost hope, so they send school buses. We get on a bus and everything looks fine, sunny. a few moments later the sky changes, extremely windy; everyone is frantic and rushes to get a seat. We hear a huge BOOOOM and the sky turns grey! I shout to the bus driver to go, the bus moves forward and people outside go crazy chasing after the bus. I end up off the bus walking up a hill while everyone else is walking down, crying and all depressed. I take a few steps and wake up.
FELT HOW: Very disturbing.
MAIN LIFE ISSUES: Mending my relationship with girlfriend.
STORY LINE: It’s a story of how everything first seems to be fall apart then looks okay for a while, then really does fall apart.
A local park: “Park” as a play on words for something that has stopped or no longer moves; a place of recreation.
End of the world: The end of your world as you know it; a major catastrophe or change.
Watching news on t.v.: Looking for clues and information; in this dream, a metaphor for trying to figure out the relationship.
A school bus: In this dream, a vehicle that takes you to a safe place, to where you want to go, as a metaphor suggesting "there is still a lot to learn" to create a good relationship.
Seeking a safe place: Looking for answers, wanting a relationship that works.
I thought “Everyone will wake up”: Anticipating a change in awareness; thinking that the reality will become obvious.
Three stages of an ending: A change that happens in steps; something that goes back and forth.
Hear a huge “Boom”: A major red flag; a sudden event; what grabs everyone’s attention.
Sunny, then sky turns dark: A metaphor showing shifts from good times to challenging ones, as has been on-going in the relationship.
Walking uphill: Exerting oneself; facing a challenge; a difficult goal.
WHAT IT MEANS:
You are mending your relationship with your girlfriend, which suggests the relationship has at times been rocky. Even though you are trying to work things out, at the of the dream you walk uphill which suggests that making the relationship work is an uphill battle. Your world as you know it—the relationship—is what is coming to an end.
BOTTOM LINE: The dream hints a major change is on its way and the relationship won’t work.
THE END OF TIME. I once had a vivid dream about how the earth was on fire and now I had another dream just like it. I was in a primitive place, like medieval times, and everyone seemed to be on edge. All of a sudden at dusk, all the animals start running away from something, all in the same direction. As they pass, everyone argues whether to follow the animals or stay.
A group of us decide to leave with the animals and start gathering our things. I look for bags to put my stuff in and fill one, then pick up another one, a khaki army backpack. I decide not to take the backpack since I already have a full bag and don't want to be weighed down, so I leave it on the bed. As I turn to walk away, I see my name on the backpack and am glad I decided to leave it, because someone would have known we were there.
Then, it gets dark and a loud man’s voice says, “They've turned the TV’s off.” My thought was that something was happening and it was time to go; I felt fear from head to toe and woke up.
FELT HOW: Fear, then knowing what I needed to do.
MAIN LIFE ISSUES: Financial, family.
STORY LINE: Someone sees danger is immanent, leaves everything behind and accepts change.
Dusk: Transition into sunset, the end of a day; a metaphor for a phase of life that is about to end.
Animals run away: Image of impending disaster; metaphor for signs and signals that should be taken seriously.
Group that goes in the same direction: Following the pack, taking heed of the signs and signals.
Backpack: Item that holds what is important; taking only basic necessities.
Name on backpack: What singles someone out; in this case, a mark of danger.
Words “tv turned off”: Closing connections to world, to what is going on.
WHAT IT MEANS:
The dream is a heads up about change coming your way, a signal about an ending and a new beginning. It suggests there are, or will be, signs and hints that such a change is imminent and likely drastic because you leave all behind. The animals running away hints at rumors about prospective changes, such as the company at which you work closing or being sold. The dream shows that you quickly choose to move on.
BOTTOM LINE: Changes in life are inevitable and we have to go with change. The dream is a heads about a sudden change and also an assurance that in the face of change, you will be okay. Sometimes warning dreams come well in advance to give you time to mobilize strength, so the event may still be down the road. Whether it is sooner or later, when you see or hear fearful hints and rumors around you, you’ll know the time has arrived.
