A Recurring Dream About A Snake That Kills Me
I Am Bitten by a Cobra and Die
I’m in a house with others who are laughing at me and mocking me. I try to get away and as I turn a corner in the house, I see it is full of snakes. I get past most of the snakes but discover that I am at a dead end, so I try to get out by walking back to where I had been. As I retrace my path I see a cobra sitting on a stool in the corner. It attacks me and bites my arm. I die and I wake up. Each time I have the dream, it happens exactly the same way.
It felt unsettling.
Main Life Issues:
Have not worked for two years (age 28).
Someone looking for a out of a bad situation meets a crises.
Others laughing at me: Feeling disgraced, disrespected.
Try to get away: Looking for solutions.
Snakes: That which hinders; obstacles to be overcome.
At a dead end: No way out; no place to run; metaphor for something that has to be faced rather than avoided.
Walk back to where I was: Using old methods; staying with what is familiar.
Find a cobra: Facing the deadliest enemy; hints at the phrase, “I have met the enemy and it is I” suggesting that the dreamer may be his own worst enemy in some ways.
I die: Death as change; ending of a dream indicates the way out which in this case, suggests the dreamer needs to change.
What the dream Means:
The story says that death is the only way out, so to speak. Death is a symbol of change so in order to get your life back on track, you need to change. Even if life’s challenges are great, someomes we have to change with the times. Whether a change in career direction, character or how you relate to others, only you can decide what needs changing that would unblock your path.
Bottom Line: To find a job and become successful, the dream invites you to assess yourself and make changes.
